Microwave radiation is odorless and invisible, but depending on its intensity, it can be dangerous in the long term. High-frequency fields, commonly referred to as “electrosmog,” can propagate as waves originating from a radiation source, but they also interfere with the functionality of other electrical devices and affect the human body. Electromagnetic radiation penetrates thin walls, standard windows, and roof tiles, and the body reacts to these fields like an antenna.

The BR16 microwave meter detects sources of interference and leakage radiation
As long as the applicable exposure limits and safety measures are followed, microwaves are actually harmless. Devices with damaged shielding, on the other hand, can become a source of danger and cause radiation leakage. In addition, various microwave devices can become sources of interference if they are poorly positioned in the home and affect the operation of Wi-Fi or other wireless connections, for example. Whether it’s leaking microwave ovens, Wi-Fi routers, cell phones, or transmission towers —the compact and lightweight (150 g) BR16 handheld meter reliably detects harmful or disruptive microwave radiation within a measurement range of 0–9.99 mW/ cm² (frequency 2.45 GHz), and provide manufacturer information on the maximum power density of devices emitting microwave radiation.

Even inside a car, accessories such as heated seats and Bluetooth hands-free devices generate high-frequency radiation. Since the metal body prevents this radiation from escaping to the outside, the radiation sources are reflected inside the vehicle, increasing exposure to radiation.
Measure and be sure: The BR16 alerts you to dangerous sources of radiation
If the measured value exceeds the ICNIRP upper limit of 5 mW/cm², the BR16 radiation meter automatically alerts the user with a combination of a beep and a flashing red LED below the display. This makes identifying radiation sources that are too high just as easy as identifying interference sources that cause technical problems at home or at work.
Quick and Easy Radiation Measurement
The BR16 microwave radiation meter is equipped with everything necessary to detect excessive radiation levels, sources of interference, or improper placement of microwave devices within a measurement range of 0–9.99 mW/cm² (frequency: 2.45 GHz). The entire device is user-friendly and operated using just three buttons.
Backlit digital display
The measured value and the selected unit of measurement are displayed on a large, easy-to-read LCD monochrome display. The optionally switchable backlight allows a clear overview of the large number of displayed measured values, even in poor lighting conditions.
Maximum value and hold function
The maximum value function, which can be activated if necessary, displays the highest radiation value measured so far instead of the current measured value. This allows an increase in radiation exposure to be detected early in the measurement series.
Automatic Calibration The
BR16 radiation meter features automatic calibration to ensure that measurement results are always accurate. It starts with the push of a button, and the BR16 is ready for use in just 3 seconds.
Alarm when limit value is exceeded
If the microwave radiation limit of 5 mW/cm² is exceeded, a red LED built into the housing flashes and a beep sounds.

Operation The wireless measuring device is operated with a 9 V block battery, which is already included in the delivery.

Things to Know About EMF Radiation:
Most countries around the world base their limit values for the high-frequency range on the recommendations of the International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection (ICNIRP). This is also the case in Germany. ICNIRP’s current recommended exposure limits vary depending on the application and range from 0.2 to 5 mW/cm². For example, the permissible emission limit for kitchen microwave ovens, according to the DIN EN 60335-2-90 standard, is 5 mW/cm², whereas in Germany, according to Federal Immission Control Ordinance 26 (BImSchV), the current limit value for UMTS frequencies is approximately 1 mW/cm². Values exceeding the 5 mW/cm² limit are unanimously classified as harmful.
