CO2 Meter BZ26 (Carbon Dioxide Meter)
Air quality has a significant impact on our well-being. The CO₂ concentration in the air is a good indicator of when a room needs to be ventilated by opening the windows. Timely ventilation is especially important in rooms with many people and is recommended, among other things, as a protective measure against airborne coronavirus infection. Temperature and humidity also affect our health and well-being. Therefore, it’s worth keeping a close eye on these indoor air quality criteria at all times. The
BZ26 reliably monitors the most important air quality parameters
- CO₂ concentration (measurement range: 400 to 5,000 ppm)
- Internal temperature (measuring range: -9.9 °C to 60 °C or 14.18 °F to 140 °F)
- Relative humidity (measuring range: 20% RH to 95% RH)
and displays the measured values in color-coded zones on its easy-to-read, three-level dimmable screen. The Well-Being Indicator uses a smiley face icon to provide easy-to-understand information on whether the indoor climate is in the ideal, acceptable, or critical range. If the threshold values are exceeded, you can also be alerted by a visual and audible signal.
CO2 Monitor for a Healthy Living, Learning, and Working Environment
The BZ26 monitoring device provides reliable indoor air quality monitoring to help improve your health. It’s ideal for use in, for example, classrooms, daycare centers, offices, waiting rooms, conference rooms, seminars, and, of course, at home. This way, you can breathe deeply in and out with peace of mind. The BZ26’s high-information display features a rounded clock and date display with the day of the week, as well as a programmable alarm clock with a snooze function.
Ventilate without wasting energy
Ventilate longer and more frequently “just in case”? That’s not a good idea when energy prices are high. Uncontrolled ventilation can be costly due to wasted energy. Ventilation is more efficient and convenient with the BZ26. You should ventilate only when and for as long as it is truly necessary for health protection.
Greater well-being and health protection through a controlled indoor climate
Whether the air at home—in the living room, children’s room, classroom, workplace, or production environment—is beneficial to health depends on various factors. Room temperature and humidity directly affect overall well-being. If it is too cold or too hot, too dry or too humid, the body reacts to it. Excessive humidity can also promote the growth of mold spores. Similarly, the concentration of carbon dioxide in the air has a decisive impact on our work performance—even if it remains within permissible limits. High CO₂ concentrations can cause fatigue, poor concentration, and reduced work performance, and can lead to serious health problems in children or vulnerable individuals. With the BZ26, you can maintain control over all key indoor climate parameters and implement specific measures to improve air quality.
Monitoring CO2 levels reduces the risk of COVID-19 infection
During a pandemic, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, indoor CO₂ levels and ventilation play a particularly important role in protecting against infections. Carbon dioxide ( CO₂ ) concentration is generally considered a good indicator of high exposure to indoor aerosols. Aerosols are considered the primary carriers of the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Aerosol researchers estimate that more than 90 percent of all indoor infections are caused by inhaling infectious aerosols that were exhaled, spoke, coughed, or sneezed.
The CO₂ sensor BZ26 indicates high CO₂ concentrations and the need for ventilation. In addition, you can set an individual CO₂ alarm threshold; if this threshold is exceeded, an audible and visual warning signal is triggered.
Controlled ventilation results in less energy waste
During the cold season, the BZ26 also helps save valuable heating energy, as controlled ventilation is provided only as long as it is actually necessary based on measured values. This way, heat stays in the room longer, and the room doesn’t have to be reheated over and over again.
BZ26 Air Quality Monitor – Indispensable for Healthy Ventilation and a Good Indoor Climate
With the BZ26, you can reliably monitor indoor air quality. The meter can be powered by the mains (USB cable included) or by batteries (3 x AAA alkaline, 1.5 V). The practical stand and integrated wall mount allow for flexible positioning of the meter. When operating on batteries, press the “DOWN” button to measure the CO₂ level. When connected via USB, the BZ26 measures the CO₂ concentration in the air fully automatically every 6 seconds.

Automatic Baseline Calibration
The current expected CO₂ concentration in fresh air is approximately 400 ppm (0.04 percent by volume) CO₂. The device accepts this as the lowest threshold value (base level). A special algorithm now continuously monitors the sensor’s lowest recorded CO₂ reading over several days within a preconfigured time period and slowly corrects for any detected long-term drift relative to the expected fresh airof 400 ppm (or 0.04% by volume) CO₂. In typical indoor applications, the carbon dioxide concentration regularly drops to nearly outdoor air levels over the course of a week. By recording values over a 7-day period and then comparing the lowest value to the 400 ppm reference point, the meter can determine whether it needs to be reset to zero. This process is fully automatic. The algorithm thus takes advantage of the fact that CO₂ levels in buildings or rooms regularly stabilize at a minimum over a certain period of time when they are unoccupied. In rooms that are continuously occupied or where CO₂ concentrations are constantly elevated (e.g., greenhouses), this automatic calibration principle does not work.

The comfort chart shows the temperature range in which people feel comfortable
As can be clearly seen in the comfort chart shown here (based on data from Leusden and Freymark), we feel most comfortable within a temperature range of 20–22 °C and a relative humidity of 40–60%.
Most people find climatic conditions outside these ranges unpleasant. In addition, excessive humidity can cause various types of damage. The first noticeable warning signs are usually damp clothes, a musty odor, and stained walls (mold spots), or potatoes sprouting in the basement. Did you know, for example, that mold begins to form at 70% humidity and rust at 60%? Without regulation, indoor humidity can fluctuate significantly and rarely reaches optimal levels on its own—especially depending on the season and prevailing outdoor weather conditions.
With the BZ26 indoor climate monitor, you’ll always have the temperature and humidity levels right in front of you.
