SL800 Ultrasonic Leak Detector

With a professional ultrasonic detector kit, you can quickly and inexpensively detect leaks in compressed air networks, equipment systems, and concealed piping—even from a distance of several meters—without making physical contact.

Even the smallest leaks in compressed air lines increase friction with the escaping gas and produce sounds that are inaudible to humans in the ultrasonic frequency range.

Similarly, wear and tear on the machine’s moving parts becomes noticeable at an early stage.

The SL800R probe picks up these sound vibrations caused by current friction and converts them into an audio signal, using powerful transducer technology, which is then played back through noise-isolating headphones and also displayed as an indicator value via a ten-segment LED bar graph.

Combined vision and hearing detection, along with adjustable headphone volume, allows you to work with focus even in poor lighting conditions and in the presence of ambient noise.

For leak testing of non-pressurized systems, such as tanks, containers, climate chambers, and ventilation systems, the kit also includes the SL800T ultrasonic transmitter.

Here are some practical benefits:

  • Development, design, manufacturing: 100% Trotec
  • Easy detection of even the smallest leaks
  • Precise leak detection using powerful transducer technology
  • Cost-effective leak detection in compressed air lines, as well as in steam, gas, and vacuum systems; boilers; fluid-carrying pipes; valves; shut-off valves; and condensate drains
  • Reliable early detection of damage to slide and roller bearings or other wear-related noises
  • An airborne and structural sound probe for performing various tasks
  • A quiet environment even in noisy surroundings, thanks to high-quality, sound-isolating headphones
  • Easy to use

Ultrasonic detection with the SL800 kit offers you a variety of possible applications:

SL800R with a structural ultrasonic probe

  • Early Detection of Wear in Ball, Roller, or Sliding Bearings
  • Controlling Cavitation in Centrifugal Pumps
  • Leak Test of Fittings
  • Continuity and Functional Testing of Capacitors

This probe uses sound within the structure to convey information about its internal states and processes. The combination of devices thus functions like an electronic stethoscope.

SL800R with an airborne sound sensor

  • Leak Detection in Uninsulated Pipes and Ducts
  • Evidence related to the leak regarding the loss of gas-filled pipe networks, even during operation
  • Leak Detection in High-Pressure Steam Systems
  • Locating cracks, poor welds, or worn flange joints in the hairline area
  • Leak detection on all accessible joints and connection points where processes take place under vacuum or high pressure

SL800R with an airborne sound probe and SL800T ultrasonic transducer

  • To identify the causes of energy-related defects resulting from leaks, such as in building doors or windows
  • Checking for leaks in tanks, enclosures, or climate chambers
  • Ultrasonic testing of tanks or containers to inspect sealing components
