TC100 Thermo-Hygrometer with Calibration Certificate
The TC100 thermo-hygrometer, which comes with a calibration certificate,is a multifunctional diagnostic device for professional climate testing and quickly determines the WBGT index, for example, when assessing workplaces with heat stress.
For measurements adapted to indoor and outdoor conditions, the direct solar radiation function can be included or excluded. It is also possible to define an individual WBGT alarm threshold, and an immediate audible alert is triggered if this threshold is exceeded.
In addition, the Trotec TC100 is capable of measuring virtually all variables that are important for thermal comfort.
Whether it’s air temperature, humidity, radiant heat, wet bulb temperature, dew point temperature, or air pressure—all of these measured values can be displayed in real time, displayed on the backlit screen in hold mode, as minimum, maximum, or average values, and stored directly in the device with a capacity of 99 measurements.
For long-term measurements, the TC100 can also be mounted on a tripod. In addition, the measuring device has a mini-USB port and a 9 V barrel jack, so continuous AC power can be used as an alternative to the battery via these connections. If necessary, a power bank can also be connected to the TC100’s mini-USB port as a mobile power source.
Measurement of the WBGT Index in Accordance with the Standard
People who work in spaces or environments with high energy levels or thermal radiation are at increased risk of heat stress.
To protect the health of workers exposed to such heat, measures have been put in place, including exposure and rest periods adjusted to the level of exposure.
The intensity of heat stress is calculated based on various climatic factors. The internationally standardized term for this general measure of climate is the WBGT index (Wet Bulb Globe Temperature).
This index, which was originally developed by the U.S. military for its training camps, is now also defined by the DIN EN 27243 standard and is used, among other things, to establish guidelines for work breaks and restrictions in workplaces exposed to heat.
In addition to the WBGT, the TC100 can also be used to determine the heat index—also known as the Humidex—which reflects the combined effect of humidity, temperature, and radiant heat on the human body.
Since physical performance declines as temperatures rise, the WBGT and heat index are being used more and more frequently in decision-making for competitive athletes and at sporting events.
