The device’s automatic shut-off (Auto-Power-Off) after 15 minutes of inactivity is battery-friendly and practical.

The Difference Between Standard Measuring Instruments and Those with True RMS Capability

A digital measuring instrument without an actual RMS function assumes that the measured AC signal is sinusoidal and uses this assumption to convert the measured raw signal for display. In reality, however, the current waveform is never purely sinusoidal; devices such as switching power supplies, speed or power controllers, etc., introduce disturbances that in turn cause distorted current waveforms. Since these are no longer purely sinusoidal, they cannot be measured accurately without the True RMS function.

True RMS measuring instruments are capable of accurately measuring even non-sinusoidal signal curves and are therefore capable of directly determining the true effective value of any variable. “Root Mean Square” (RMS) refers to the accurate determination and output of the true effective value.
