As a classic laser distance measurer, the BD8M easily measures distances, areas, and volumes of up to 40 m indoors. Accurately calculating floor, ceiling, or wall areas with a laser distance measurer is therefore one of the simplest ways to maximize material efficiency during renovation projects. The Pythagorean function is also integrated for taking indirect laser measurements (e.g., measuring the height of walls or furniture).

With this functionality—which already marks the limit of what many laser distance measuring devices can do—the BD8M’s potential is far from exhausted. When needed, the integrated cross-line laser projects bright laser lines onto surfaces to optimally align, for example, drill holes, pictures, tiles, wallpaper strips, wall cabinets, or shelves. The integrated measuring tape (5 m) with a practical retraction button—ideal for manual measurements in hard-to-reach places—makes the BD8M an unbeatable measuring tool for professionals and DIYers alike.

A clear overview of precise measurement results
Data obtained through laser measurement is displayed in an easy-to-read format on a backlit multi-line display and is also stored in the internal data memory (up to 20 measurements). It is possible to add and subtract measurement data, as well as perform continuous measurements using the MIN/MAX function (averaging function).
It is energy-efficient and automatically turns off when not in use
To ensure maximum operating time, the BD8M features an intelligent auto-shutdown function that automatically turns off the laser after 30 seconds and the entire device after 2 minutes if it is not in use. This intelligent energy-saving feature is particularly helpful during the demanding daily work on a construction site and makes the BD8M a long-lasting performer among distance measuring devices. The batteries required for operation (2 x 1.5 V AAA batteries) are included in the package.
