Trotec BQ30 Particle and CO2 Measurement Device

Air quality monitor for measuring particulate matter and CO₂ pollution

A discussion about airborne particulate matter and its impact on health is essential today. But what makes particulate matter so dangerous? Measurements generally distinguish between two particle fractions: PM10 and PM2.5.

PM10 includes all particles with a maximum diameter of 10 µm, and PM2.5 includes all particles with a diameter smaller than 2.5 µm. These particles are invisible to the naked eye. They are so small that particles of the PM2.5 size, in particular, can penetrate the alveoli. Even smaller particles, measuring less than 1 µm, are capable of penetrating blood vessels.

In our daily lives, we are surrounded by countless potential sources of fine particulate matter. Whether you live or work on a street with heavy traffic or near an industrial area, it’s safe to assume that the level of particulate matter in the air around you is higher than average. In rooms and buildings with many people, CO₂ levels also often rise above average.

However, even familiar activities such as cooking, vacuuming, tobacco and candle smoke, or emissions from heating sources such as stoves or fireplaces, can have a direct negative impact on the living environment and, consequently, on well-being. Since increased concentrations of particulate matter and CO₂ in the air can not only affect overall well-being but also be responsible for concentration and sleep disorders as well as various allergic reactions. In the long term, particulate matter increases the risk of cardiovascular and respiratory diseases, and even lung cancer.

With the BQ30 practical particle monitor, you can always keep an eye on particulate matter, CO₂, air temperature, and humidity levels. Just like with a carbon dioxide monitor, you can also improve indoor air quality as needed by bringing in fresh air or using air purifiers, humidifiers, or dehumidifiers.

Monitor the concentration of fine and ultrafine dust, soot, and pollen in the room

This user-friendly mobile air quality monitor detects and quantifies the mass concentrations of all types of fine particulate matter. Using laser technology, the device easily measures the smallest air pollutants—PM2.5 and PM10—in micrograms per cubic meter.

The BQ30 enables effective long-term control of particulate matter levels through adjustable, regular time intervals. Up to 5,000 data entries can be stored, recording both PM concentrations and the date. This variety of data is clearly displayed in graphical curves on a large 3-inch color screen.

With regard to the mass concentrations of PM2.5 particles, the BQ30 can be used to define predetermined threshold values; an acoustic alarm sounds when these thresholds are exceeded. In addition, the six-level color indicators, combined with the corresponding alarm levels, help quickly assess whether the particle concentration should be classified as acceptable or very critical.

A Multifunctional Carbon Dioxide Monitor for Monitoring Indoor Air Quality

This handy, versatile measuring device also features probes for simultaneously recording other health-related indoor climate parameters: for example, CO₂ levels in ppm, air temperature from -20 to 70 °C, and relative humidity from 0 to 100% RH. The measured values for PM10 and CO₂ are automatically displayed on a rolling screen. A second three-level color indicator complements the user-friendly visualization of these two parameters in relation to good and poor air quality.

Thanks to its accurate measurement results, wireless connectivity, long-lasting battery life, light weight, and compact dimensions, the BQ30 air quality monitor is the ideal companion wherever you need to verify potential health risks from fine dust and CO₂ pollution.
