Electrostatic measurement is particularly important for checking whether surfaces, components, or the human body are electrostatically charged. If a discharge occurs, electronic components can be damaged. In the worst case, flammable gases and liquids can ignite. Such electrostatic charges can be detected using an electromagnetic radiation detector. For this reason, an electromagnetic field meter is used for monitoring in production facilities with ESD protection. The measurement range of the electromagnetic field meter is ±60 kV DC.
The electromagnetic radiation detector can be grounded using the alligator clip included in the kit so that the electromagnetic field meter does not lose its own measurement results or, if necessary, damage components in the production facility due to an electric shock. The lasers in the electromagnetic field meter are used to optimally align the sensors.
In addition to measuring radiation, the electromagnetic radiation detector can simultaneously measure the ambient temperature and humidity. For portable use, the electromagnetic field meter operates on a 9-volt block battery. The electromagnetic field meter has a maximum operating time of 20 hours. The electromagnetic field meter displays the current battery charge level via a battery status indicator.
