The BX50 MID is likely the most compact, plug-and-play energy consumption meter with MID compliance* on the market, making it the ideal solution for many retailers or service providers who need to determine the amount of energy drawn from a customer’s system for billing purposes.

For this type of work, it is not always practical to have a large, MID-compliant* power strip, especially when only one electrical appliance is in use.

The MID-compliant* energy consumption meter can be easily connected to an electrical device and a standard household safety outlet (230 V/AC) and requires no additional installation work. The BGI-608-compatible adapter plug should only be used when the BX50 MID is used at construction or installation sites in building outlets with unknown safety features.

You won’t find any complicated input key combinations or confusing keyboards on the BX50 MID. The meter is designed for quick and easy use—the menu button provides access to all display functions.

The backlit display shows either watts, volts, amps, active power, power factor (cos F), kWh, or frequency.

The BX50 MID is the optimal solution for measuring commercial energy consumption for billing purposes, but of course it can also be used as a certified metering device in the home, where it can professionally display precise power readings.

Well-equipped to meet professional demands

The BX50 MID, tested in accordance with the EN 50470-1/3 standard, ensures that this measuring device can be used in compliance with regulations to determine commercial energy consumption for billing purposes.

In addition to MID compliance*, additional requirements apply to such measuring instruments in some EU countries, such as Germany. Here, the Measurement and Calibration Act (MessEG) also requires a guarantee that, during the device’s service life, no additional electricity meters may be connected or replaced with others.

As a result, the BX50 MID is the only energy meter in its class on the market that is equipped with two integrated sealing pins. This secure solution, protected by a utility model, allows users to ensure that the plug installation complies with regulations, for example by using sequentially numbered pull-through seals, which are available as optional accessories. The identification number printed on each seal is also displayed as a universal barcode, which can be easily scanned for documentation purposes.

* What does “MID-compatible” mean?

MID-compliant meters comply with the European Measuring Instruments Directive (MID), which defines the requirements for active power meters used for billing purposes. This also applies, for example, to the measurement of energy consumption for billing purposes by insurance companies or for customers. The previous initial calibration is replaced by MID compliance, but the devices must be recalibrated after a specified period—for example, electronic meters in Germany must be recalibrated after 8 years.
