MMS 2 – 4-in-1 Moisture Measurement System
For building surveys, repairs following water damage, indoor climate measurements, and documenting psychrometer readings – Whenever accurate ambient air measurements need to be recorded, the MMS 2 does the job.
The measurement (penetration mode) determines the extent of moisture penetration and is used to assess damage to building structures and monitor the drying process.
Check (in non-invasive mode) behind ceramic tiles, high-quality flooring, water stains, vinyl flooring, wood, drywall, plaster, masonry, concrete, and concrete blocks.
Hygrometry measures and monitors proper ventilation in buildings, which can affect both indoor air quality and humidity issues.
Surface Temperature (IR) uses a laser pointer to measure the surface temperature and calculates the difference from the dew point.
The Protimeter floor layer kit allows for a quick assessment of the moisture content of both concrete floors and leveling layers, and enables accurate measurement of equilibriumor equilibrium moisture content (ERH) in accordance with the relevant VOB regulations .
The MMS 2 moisture measurement system can be used in capacitive scan mode to quickly preselect component surfaces by pausing the sensor when it reaches the material.
In areas with the highest moisture content, a precise measurement of the equilibrium moisture content (ERH) should then be performed. To do this, moisture sleeves with adjustable heights are inserted into the material; these sleeves house the newly developed mini-hygrostick moisture sensors. Based on the moisture values measured in the material, a conclusion can be drawn regarding the amount of excess water contained in the material. A moisture level above 80% clearly indicates the need for further drying. If the value is below 75%, the floor is generally considered ready for covering. For values below 75%, measured over a 24-hour period, the floor can generally be certified as ready for covering. Follow the installation instructions provided by the manufacturers of floor coverings and leveling compounds, as well as applicable regulations and standards.
The advantage of the new humidity sensors: they can remain in the sleeve until the next measurement, sealed airtight and protected by a cap. This eliminates long wait times for each subsequent measurement, since the sensor has already “acclimated.” To insert the moisture sleeve, drill a hole in the floor using a drill bit of the correct diameter. The floor kit includes a concrete drill bit with a suitable depth stop. The moisture sleeves are adjustable in length, so measurements can be taken only at the desired depth. Between measurements, the sleeve is sealed airtight with a cap. The moisture sensor can remain inside the material and is protected.
To read the measured values, the MMS 2 is connected to a humidity sensor with an extension cable. For repeat measurements, the values can be read without a long wait.
The probes are then removed from the sleeve using a lifting tool before the hole is sealed. The user can check the calibration of the humidity sensors using the included bottle of salt solution. If necessary, used sensors can be quickly replaced.
