Coway Airmega Aim Air Purifier

¹ Based on tests conducted by KCL (Korea Conformity Laboratories), Coway air purifiers capture dust, pollen, dander, viruses, and bacteria. They have been tested in a 30 ㎥ chamber in accordance with the Korean Air Cleaner Association standard (SPS-KACA 002-132:2018, modified) to measure the particle removal rate at 0.01 ㎛. The test was conducted at the fan’s maximum speed under normal room temperature and humidity conditions. Performance may vary in the customer’s actual living environment.

² 99.9% of viruses, bacteria, fungi, and pollen were removed from the air using Coway air purifiers equipped with GreenHEPA™ technology filters, based on testing conducted by the Japan Food Research Laboratories (JFRL) in accordance with the JEM 1467 standard. The following models were tested: AIRMEGA AP-1516D, AIRMEGA AP-1220B, AIRMEGA MIGHTY, as well as AIRMEGA 150, AIRMEGA 250, AIRMEGA 300S, and AIRMEGA 400S.

All of them took the JFRL test and achieved the results listed above within the time limit specified below:

• Virus: tested with Escherichia coli phage ΦX174 NBRC 103405 for 60 minutes

• Bacteria: Tested with Staphylococcus epidermidis NBRC 12993 for 60 minutes

• Mold: Tested with Penicillium citrinum NBRC 6352 for 60 minutes

• Pollen: Tested with cedar pollen extract, 30 minutes

Tested with the A-influenza virus (H1N1) and Staphylococcus aureus in Coway’s Green HEPA filter environment (Japan Food Research Laboratories (JFRL)), and no growth was detected on the material after 24 hours of storage at room temperature.

Both tests were conducted using small test specimens cut from a green HEPA filter media, so this conclusion can be applied to all Coway products that use this filter.

• Virus: Tested with influenza A virus (H1N1), 3 cm x 3 cm autoclaved sample

• Bacteria: Staphylococcus aureus, inoculated onto a 50 mm × 50 mm test piece.

³ Tested for human coronavirus (HCoV-OC43) on a filter media incorporating Coway GreenHEPA™ technology by BioPS Co., Ltd., a South Korean research organization specializing in virus removal studies. The test method used was a filter media coupon test to monitor neutralization efficiency. After being kept at room temperature for 2 hours, over 99.999% of the virus was removed following contact with the filter medium, resulting in the neutralization or inactivation of the virus. The same results were observed after 12 hours and 24 hours. This specific test was conducted using the human coronavirus (HCoV-OC43) as an experimental model virus (not COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2)), since OC-43 is one of seven types of coronaviruses that can infect humans.

Note: Air purifiers are known to be effective in preventing COVID-19. However, they should never be considered the primary method of preventing viral infection. Hand hygiene, social distancing, and avoiding enclosed spaces in public places are necessary to minimize the risk of contracting a viral infection. * The CADR (Clean Air Delivery Rate) for particles has been tested in accordance with the GB/T18801-2015 standard at a certified third-party laboratory.

The measurement specifications are defined in GB/T 18801-2015, according to which two particle concentration decay rates must be determined in a test chamber of a specified volume (V-chamber), two particle concentration decay rates must be determined: the natural decay rate with an inactive air purifier (knat) and the decay rate. During the measurements, it was found that in a 30 ㎥ chamber, which was empty except for an air purifier placed on the table, two fans for air mixing and recirculation, and some external measuring equipment (primarily tubes). The temperature in the chamber is maintained at 25 ± 2 °C and the relative humidity at 50 ± 10%. Cigarette smoke is used as the test aerosol, and the particle number > 0.3 µm is measured using the optical aerosol spectrometer of the indoor air purifier (kAC). The decay rates k are determined based on the measured temporal decay of the particle concentration C(t),
