What is infrared radiation?

Infrared heat is similar to the heat we feel when we’re out in the sun. Infrared radiation travels through the air, just like ultraviolet radiation. However, infrared radiation is not harmful to our skin.

The Effects of Infrared Heat.

Infrared radiation that strikes the skin and objects is immediately converted into heat. Objects heat up and transfer the heat through the air into the room. This offers a significant advantage in terms of energy savings compared to conventional heating, where heat is emitted directly from the heating element and first rises to the higher areas of the room before settling on lower surfaces.

As the skin’s temperature rises at this moment, blood circulation in the skin is stimulated. Due to optimal blood circulation in the skin, the human body absorbs heat, and the vibration of molecules in the body’s tissues generates infrared heat. Infrared radiation absorbed by the body heats the tissues to a depth of up to 4 cm, creating deep heat that activates the body’s water molecules. Cells and blood circulation are revitalized, metabolism is activated, and oxygen supply is improved. The sweating process achieved in this way differs from normal sweating in that, due to the depth of penetration, the volume of sweat is greater, and the non-aqueous portion of the sweat is also higher.

Infrared radiation in nature.

In nature, infrared radiation is one of the most important forms of heat transfer. Take the sun, for example: the sun generates an enormous amount of energy and emits this energy at various wavelengths, including ultraviolet radiation, visible light, and infrared radiation. The Earth’s surface is heated to a significant degree by the infrared radiation from the sun’s rays. At night, the Earth’s surface cools down, releasing heat once again in the form of infrared radiation. The same phenomenon can be observed with infrared heaters. A radiant heater placed on a patio warms objects and people sitting there, rather than unnecessarily heating the air. Seating areas are pleasantly warm and cozy.

HOW DO YOU DETERMINE THE HEATING CAPACITY OF A SPECIFIC ROOM?

The capacity of a heating element is calculated based on two parameters: the size of the room and the purpose of the heating (primary or supplemental).

The general calculation formula is as follows: per 1 square meter. A 1-meter space requires 100 watts of power if the heater is the primary heating source, and 50–60 watts if it is a supplementary heater. This means that a 1-kilowatt heater is suitable for providing primary heating to a room with an area of 10–11 square meters, and for maintaining a comfortable temperature of 20–22 square meters in the spring and fall. With high-quality insulation, the heater can maintain a temperature of +20 degrees inside the house, even when the outside temperature drops to -20 degrees. When heating large spaces, it makes more sense to use several medium-power heaters rather than one that is too powerful—they heat the entire area evenly.

Experiments have shown that the most efficient and convenient way to heat indoor spaces and partially open areas is with infrared ceiling heaters. The prototype of the infrared cabin was developed by Dr. Tadishi Ishikawa in Japan in 1967. The invention was originally used exclusively for medical purposes. 1982. In [year], infrared saunas became widely available, and since then their popularity has grown both in the private sphere and among doctors and therapists.
Patients with varying degrees of rheumatic disease rate minimal air circulation and stable humidity very highly. These benefits are also highly appreciated by people with asthma. In addition, most people with allergies find relief from the relatively low levels of dust, pollen, bacteria, and mold spores in the air.

Fights mold by keeping your home dry and comfortably warm

It’s not uncommon for us to be unaware that we have mold in our homes. It can hide in dark and hard-to-reach places. Sometimes it draws attention to itself through musty odors; other times, it goes unnoticed. Over time, we feel the effects of mold on our health in the form of allergies or chronic respiratory diseases. People with asthma, allergies, or those recovering from illness have an even harder time in areas with mold.
The principle behind drying a wall using PION spotlights is based on the fact that the wall’s temperature is higher than the room’s air temperature, and therefore no water vapor has condensed on the wall’s surface.

It is quiet and clean

Many heat sources emit annoying noises. You might not notice them during the day, but at night, for example, the sound of a boiler can wake you up. The noises made by nighttime standby heaters are also annoying. PION devices, on the other hand, are completely silent!
Rooms heated with PION are generally cleaner due to minimal air circulation: they do not use a fan that could stir up dust, pollen, dander, and other allergens.
People with dust allergies appreciate PION heaters. * The even temperature distribution in a room heated with PION also helps minimize air circulation (the air temperature near the ceiling is only about 1 °C higher than the air temperature just above the floor). Warm air does not rise as much and cold air does not sink as much as with conventional heating systems—therefore, the movement of dust particles is significantly reduced.
* Hypersensitivity to house dust mites is called a dust mite allergy. The immune system’s allergic reaction is not caused directly by dust, but rather by secretions that adhere to dust particles and are stirred up by even the slightest air current. The weaker the air current, the better it is for people with allergies.

Good news for the environment

The PION heating system is the most efficient at converting energy generated from renewable sources (wind, solar, and hydroelectric power) into heat. When there is excess electrical energy in the distribution grid, it can be stored as heat in the walls and floors, thereby preheating the building. On a larger scale, this could help offset fluctuations in the power grid, because when electricity is in short supply, you can manage without heating for a while.
Unlike combustion-based heating systems, PION heating devices do not cause local air pollution or unpleasant odors.
