BIEMMEDUE Vacuum Cleaners with ATEX Certification

ATEX vacuum cleaners are machines designed with a highly precise engineering logic, intended for vacuuming and filtering potentially explosive substances in industrial environments.

The term “ATEX” refers to a series of European directives (Atmosphères Explosibles ) that regulate safety standards for installations where explosive atmospheres may be present , and to environments where flammable gases or dust are commonly present (for example, in the chemical, petroleum, gas, pharmaceutical, and food industries).

The ATEX Directive classifies these “hazardous areas” into two main categories:

  • Zones 0, 1, and 2 for environments containing flammable gases
  • Zones 20, 21, and 22 for environments with flammable dust

Thus, the purpose of these exhaust systems is to prevent the risk of explosion by by drawing in air contaminated with gas or dust, filtering it through special filtration systems, and safely discharging the treated air into the surrounding environment to ensure maximum safety for both operators and the work environment.

ATEX-certified vacuum cleaners must comply with specific safety standards and regulations. In particular, they must be equipped with explosion-proof filters and a grounding system that prevents sparks from forming while the machine is in operation. In addition, it is important that the vacuum cleaners also comply with safety standards related to dust containment and the prevention of overheating. Finally, they must meet the specific requirements for the CE marking.

BIEMMEDUE’s New ATEX Industrial Vacuum Cleaners

ATEX vacuum cleaner

BIEMMEDUE, a leading manufacturer of industrial vacuum cleaners, has recently launched two new vacuum cleaner models, which are designed to meet ATEX requirements:

  • TT Model: This industrial vacuum cleaner is designed to collect dust in Zone 22 explosive environments. Thanks to its explosion-proof motor and filtration system, the TT ensures efficient and safe cleaning in challenging environments.
  • TTX model: Similar to the TT model, the BIEMMEDUE TTX vacuum cleaner is designed for dust collection in Zone 22, but offers better performance in terms of both power and collection capacity. This model is ideal for businesses that need a more durable solution for cleaning in potentially explosive environments.

These are industrial vacuum cleaners that offer a safe and effective solution for companies operating in potentially explosive environments, ensuring efficient and safe cleaning while protecting the health of employees and the integrity of equipment.

ATEX Industrial Vacuum Cleaners: Features

  • Single-phase and three-phase models for continuous, uninterrupted use
  • An extra-large filtration chamber for even greater filtration efficiency (TTXEX)
  • This extra-large waste container holds 100 liters of waste (TTXEX)
  • Extremely easy to maintain: both containers are easy to remove, making it simple to empty them and replace the filter without having to lift and remove the heavy turbine
  • All units are equipped with a vacuum gauge that indicates the filter’s saturation level and, therefore, the correct time to clean or replace the filter.
  • A thermal switch built into the motor to prevent overheating
  • All devices are equipped with a safety feature to prevent unexpected restarts (e.g., after a power outage)
  • ATEX Z22-certified side-channel turbine
  • A special grounding system ensures that the grounding resistance of the various parts of the frame is < 10 ohms
  • Internal dust deflector in the drum with spark-resistant brass foil to prevent sparks from forming in the material being processed
  • Grounding clamp with a 3-meter cable for securing a vacuum cleaner to the ground outside a building
  • A new version of a filter shaking device, with rubber parts made from a dispersible rubber compound
  • An antistatic air outlet diffuser that helps prevent the formation of concentrated air currents
  • A standard vacuum valve that prevents the turbine from overheating beyond the temperature specified on the ATEX label (125 °C)
