Don’t be misled by pictures of air conditioners that suggest they operate entirely without hoses—at least one hose is absolutely essential, even if you don’t always see it!
Why? It’s very simple:

All professional home air conditioners around the world are compressor-based cooling systems. And they generate both cold and heat—that’s the immutable law of physics. We want the cold generated in the room, but not the heat. That is why the heat must be vented outside.

In the case of split-system units, the condenser is automatically located outdoors, since heat is dissipated directly into the condenser installed outside. However, these units also require a refrigerant line to transport the coolant.

This requires at least one exhaust air duct, which is therefore an integral part of all monoblock air conditioners available on the market, even if it is not directly visible in every application.
