LD20HC Correlator

Correlation is a computer-based method that can be used to detect leaks with a high degree of accuracy.
A sound is generated at each leak point, which travels through the pipe and is transmitted to the hydrants, couplings, or valves. At up to three measurement points, the sound is captured by highly sensitive signal receivers and transmitted to the correlator via an LD radio transmitter.
The LD20HC calculates the exact location of a leak based on the difference in the transit time of these signals, taking into account the material, the pipe diameter, and the length of the measurement path.
While with other electroacoustic methods—especially in the case of long pipelines—it can be difficult to detect leaks due to interfering factors such as weather, pipe depth, or high noise levels—it is nevertheless easy to locate the leak using correlation. such circumstances.
The LD20HC combines high-quality engineering—”Made in Germany”—with the latest technology for detecting leaks in pipelines or drinking water networks, making it the ideal standard equipment for water utilities and metrology service providers.
At the leak points, water escapes under pressure, creating flow noise that travels in both directions through the pipes, which is detected by highly sensitive sensors that can be installed in accessible locations, such as fire hydrants or valves.
Since the type of water pipe always affects sound propagation, the LD20HC allows you to specify the material and diameter of all pipes, and you can examine up to 20 pipe sections in a single measurement operation.
The recorded signal is amplified and transmitted via radio to the correlator, which allows 256 freely selectable filters to be applied to the signal.
It can also be used to detect acoustic leaks and pipes
Various structure-borne or floor microphones can also be connected to the LD20HC for listening. When used with a floor microphone, the leak location previously determined by correlation can be verified. In addition, all other types of acoustic leak detection and pipe location can be performed.
Thanks to the patent-pending Smart feature, you can see what’s important right on the screen: potential leak locations are displayed as bar graphs, and the steepest drop indicates the leak location. There’s no faster or easier way to detect leaks acoustically!
