Fluorescent dye for detecting UV light leaks (purple)
UV marking created to indicate the location of a pipe rupture
Now available in even more colors for even more possibilities
Trotec Luminat is a water-based dispersion that can be diluted with water but does not metabolize and leaves virtually no detectable traces in the visible wavelength range.
The formaldehyde-free luminescent pigments in this marker are activated only to achieve maximum fluorescence and become highly visible when exposed to UV radiation within the optimal wavelength range.
To ensure that users have access to the optimal UV-fluorescent dye with the best possible brightness for every application, Trotec Luminat is now available in four vibrant colors, including the established Luminat Green, as well as Luminat Red, Luminat Blue, and Luminat Purple.
Luminat is particularly well-suited for leak tests on water-bearing layers of flat roofs or for inspecting recesses and rainwater downspouts. The fluorescent substance can be detected at its exit points and made visible under UV light.
Other potential applications for the Trotec Luminati can be found in non-destructive testing (NDT) and leak detection, where capillary action is secondary and UV marking should leave no visible traces.
Important: Luminate is not suitable for use as a food coloring!
Practical Benefits:
- Proven UV marking for detecting pipe cracks
- Ideal for long-term studies
- This very intense color glows under UV light
- Color-neutral application—leaves no visible color change on most surfaces
- 100% formaldehyde-free fluorescent paint manufactured in Germany
- Available in a variety of colors—for every setting and preference

* Chemical tracers (markers) have toxic potential depending on the duration of treatment and exposure, which is why their use in drinking water or groundwater discharge may be problematic. In every case, the natural dyes from Trotec’s Pure series are a 100% biodegradable alternative. Otherwise, Uranin Green is the product of choice, especially for inspecting flow paths in masonry or for leak detection. If the tracer must not leave any color traces on the object and must also be chemically stable over the long term, it is recommended to use UV-fluorescent dyes from the Luminate or Uranin Blue series, which are visible only under UV light. Compared to Luminate, Uranin Blue is also characterized by very good capillary mobility.
