PCE-VM 20 Vibration Meter<\/h2>\n

Rotating components in machines generally cause machine vibration, which can be transmitted throughout the entire machine via mechanically connected components. This results in a mixture of vibrations with different frequency components. These machine vibrations can have various desired effects (e.g., on conveyors or vibrating screens), although they are often undesirable and lead to poor production quality and machine wear. Increased wear caused by machine vibration leads to reduced uptime, a higher failure rate, and higher maintenance costs\u2014all of which are generally avoidable expenses. As negative as the effects of machine vibration may be on the machine itself, these mechanical vibrations are useful in analyzing machine damage and its causes. Vibration Meter for Machine Vibration PCE-VM 20: Often, recurring faults such as imbalance, misalignment, or bearing damage\u2014are detectable in the machine\u2019s vibration frequency spectrum, much like unique fingerprints, and, after proper evaluation, help identify the sources of the faults and eliminate their causes. <\/p>\n

How to Measure Machine Vibration
\nStationary machine monitoring systems or portable vibration measurement devices are suitable for measuring machine vibration and regularly recording the measured values. Portable vibration meters, such as the PCE-VM 20 from PCE Instruments, are ideal for measuring machine vibration due to their various specifications. The vibration meter can detect vibration accelerations (up to 20 g), vibration velocities (up to 200 mm\/s), and vibration displacements (up to 2000 \u03bcm) in the frequency range of 1…10,000 Hz. At the same time, frequency measurements can be performed using FFT analysis to filter out the dominant vibration frequencies in the vibration mixture.<\/p>\n

When assessing machine vibration, limit values can be set and defined based on experience, on the one hand; on the other hand, a standardized approach can be applied by taking into account the machine vibration limits specified in ISO 10816. According to ISO 10816, machines are divided into performance classes, and the limit values are color-coded accordingly. The machine vibration measurement device complies with the ISO 10816 limit values. This means that if vibration is too high and the limit values are exceeded, the displayed value changes in accordance with the standard. This immediately makes it clear whether the machine\u2019s overall condition complies with the ISO 10816 standard or whether action needs to be taken because the vibration level is in the orange or even red range. <\/p>\n

Since machine damage does not occur unexpectedly and there are always signs of certain problems with the machine over a longer period of time, it is recommended to check the machine\u2019s vibration at regular intervals. Vibration Meter PCE-VM 20 Application: This allows you to detect changes in the machine\u2019s vibration behavior in a timely manner and correct any issues. Since multiple measurement points are often tested on a single machine, this frequently results in the need to regularly monitor a large number of measurement points across various systems and devices.
