HEPA filters are capable of doing this for the smallest and most penetrating particle size (MPPS); now imagine how effective they are against particles larger than one micron\u2014which are the particles that viruses tend to be associated with. When choosing a HEPA filter, it is important that it be certified. Both the HEPA filter and the air purifier must pass certain tests. In Europe, HEPA filters must remove at least 99.95% of particles from the air. In the United States, on the other hand, at least 99.97% of particles must be filtered out. <\/p>\n

In Europe, HEPA filters are classified according to the UNE-EN 1822-1:2020 standard. <\/p>\n

The EN 1822 standard states that there are three main categories of filters, known as: EPA, HEPA, and ULPA filters<\/strong>, which differ in their particle retention efficiency, ranging from lower efficiency (EPA) to higher efficiency (ULPA). ULPA filters are primarily used in hospitals and laboratories. HEPA H13 and True HEPA filters are the most widely used filters in homes, schools, and offices today,<\/strong> as they provide effective filtration and are affordable. <\/p>\n
