  2. Hydrogen (H+) and oxygen ions (-O2). The ions attach to the surface of air pollutants, forming hydroxyl radicals, which remove hydrogen from the structure of the pollutant, virus, or bacterium. <\/li>\n
  3. This reaction removes air pollutants and allows the ions to utilize the missing hydrogen ion that was removed from the structure of the air pollutants. The byproduct is once again (H\u2082O), or water in the form of vapor. <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
